About

Hi there! My name is Julia Elizabeth and I’m a Canadian/Norwegian blogger and freelance writer currently based in Vancouver, British Columbia. I say currently because I tend to move around more than the average person and when it comes to how long I’ll stay here, your guess is as good as mine.

I was born in Norway on May 8, 1995 and moved to Kenya at the age of 5, then to the United States (New York) at the age of 8, back to Norway at the age of 16, back to the United States (Michigan) at the age of 18, and then to Canada (Vancouver) at the age of 22. Well, sort of.

Between my move from Michigan to Vancouver, I hit a few bumps in the road… a quarter-life crisis, if you will. My dad passed away unexpectedly, my US visa suddenly expired, and my two-and-a-half year relationship ended. In the wake of these three events, I felt extremely lost and embarked on a soul-searching journey around the world.

The next two years brought me from North America to Europe to Southeast Asia. I reconnected with my Canadian relatives and explored the Pacific Coast. I rediscovered my Norwegian roots and backpacked through the Iberian Peninsula and the Baltic states. I became a digital nomad in Indochina and found my home away from home in Bali. Meanwhile, I developed a passion for blogging and freelance writing, and I took an interest in ethical tourism and sustainable living.

Julia Elizabeth Blog is essentially a reflection of my life, from mountain hikes and vegan eats, to green tips and travel guides. It’s an outlet for my thoughts – a little space on the internet where I can write freely on topics I care about, and share my journey here on Planet Earth. I don’t know what the future holds for this blog, let alone my life, but one thing is certain…
